Jo Leslie, who runs the Great Chinese Welcome Progamme for the Government agency VisitBritain, said: ”Chinese tourists in London spend twice as long as they do in mainland Europe, spend twice as much money and the numbers are growing at twice the rate.” London is 11 per cent cheaper this year for Chinese visitors following the slump in the value of the pound against the Yuan in the wake of the shock referendum result. A major overhaul of the visa application process, including extending the life of visas from six months to two years and the opening of new application centres, has also encouraged visits from China.
